I love working with people and have always been a team player. I grew up with 2 brothers and sports have always been a big part of my life at home, school and university. Photography became a hobby of mine while I was at school, studying art for GSCE.

It was a solitary activity and being in the dark room quietly developing photographs was a world away from my usual life being surrounded by people and noise.Fashion photography became of interest to me as a field where these two sides of myself could meet. In my final year at university I used fine art and textiles in my final project and a lot of my research led me to the boom of haute couture photography last century. I loved how the fast paced world of fashion combined with my passion for photography.

My job history demonstrates skills in customer relations and communication as well as being an adaptable and dependable employee.I hope to work for myself in the future. I have gained a great deal of work experience both during university and after but I am a firm believer you should never stop learning.

I work with some inpsiring people who can teach me a lot from their experience and in the ever- changing world of fashion there is no time to rest on my laurels.

Working closely with the Studio manager, it is my responsibility to set up the exposure, colour accuracy and lighting for each shot. I am responsible for the set up and background testing as well as maintaining and cleaning the studio equipment. It is my responsibility to report any issues with any of the studio equipment.

Team work is a vital part of my role here as I have to communicate with the stylists to create the desired shot.

It is a fast-paced studio atmosphere so I need to communicate clearly with the team and models to make sure we meet our daily deadlines.

After working as an intern during the summer in 2014, I was offered a graduate role on completion of my degree.

As an assistant to the studio manager and photographer I learnt a lot in my role here. I was able to help with maintaing the equipment especially how to clean and store it quickly and safely. I was on hand to assist on the daily shoots, while observing how to communicate effectively with the models and onset stylists to achieve the composition we were looking for that day.

I was also very lucky to get to go out on several location shoots all over the North West.

As a receptionist at the Manchester Photography studio I was responsible for welcoming clients to the studio, general administration duties, making and recieving calls as keeping the reception area clean and tidy.

I was asked to give each client order a final check before they were sent to print so I became better accustomed to more commercial compostition than I was previously used to.

THANKS ETHAN! H/LESS CHARITY

I recently started volunteering with the Thanks Ethan! Homeless Charity to help distribute hot meals every week.

Who is Ethan? – Why are we thanking him?

Ethan was born in Bolton, a town in Greater Manchester, United Kingdom in 1994 and experienced too many tragedies in his short life.

With the loss of his parents and older brother all before he was sixteen Ethan could be excused for not being positive or happy – but he was, most of the time – and being his friend or work colleague was an absolute pleasure – he openly expressed compassion for others who were less fortunate than himself – his amazing personality, infectious laugh and unique aura made time spent with him so memorable. He became involved in Fiveola in late 2013 and put a considerable amount of time and ideas into the projects but sadly passed away in June 2018 before their final launches.

In January 2019 Ethan’s friends and work colleagues thought about how they could thank Ethan for his input to the business and how the business, in remembrance of Ethan, could help rough sleepers and the homeless in Greater Manchester, who Ethan often bought food and hot drinks for, and on several occasions gave away hats, clothes and rucksacks to those who were more in need than he was.

Ethan was always thanking people for helping him get through his life struggles, and Fiveola wishes to thank Ethan for his contribution to the business, so a positive, reflective name was decided upon for a charity which will act upon Ethan’s concerns for the homeless – the Thanks Ethan! charity will strive to make a difference. Although Ethan never spent time rough sleeping, there were times in his life that he sofa-surfed and was faced with eviction and displacement from the family home. The most prominent fear that Ethan always discussed was the one of being homeless – on his way to meetings in Manchester he would stop and ask the homeless if they would like food and a drink – he didn’t do it to make himself feel better, he hoped it would make a small difference to someone's day, and now in his name we aim to make a big change to lots of people's lives and futures.

Thanks Ethan! (Ethan’s Angels) is a registered United Kingdom charity. Its expenses are paid in full by Fiveola (Manchester) Limited, which enables its trustees and volunteers to ensure that all funds donated go to the homeless communities in need.

SalfordVolunteer Guide

I volunteered at Manchester Art Gallery during my final year of university as it was helpful for my final project. I needed to be knowledgeable about the current exhibition and able to answer questions visitors migh have about the work on display.

Other duties included directing visitors to resources as needed, supervising the gallery spaces to ensure the safety of the artworks and being knowledgeable about emergency procedures.
